French start-up Nawa Technologies says it is about to start mass production of supercapacitors.

As we all know, the current electric vehicle batteries are divided into two kinds, one is lead-acid batteries, one is lithium batteries, and these two batteries can not reach 20 seconds full charge.

French start-up Nawa Technologies says it is about to start mass production of supercapacitors. Nawa’s supercapacitors can be recharged in 20 seconds and, compared to other capacitors, use carbon nanotube structures to increase energy storage by five times and increase the number of cycles to more than a million times.

 

Nawa’s supercapacitors are understood to offer new solutions to the current lyse battery development. Traditional batteries tend to focus on energy density improvements, but they are hard to break through in charging speeds, and Nawa supercapacitors pay more attention to fast charging and cycle life. In some cases, they argue, the energy density requirements are not that high.

At the 2020 CES show, NAWA unveiled an electric motorcycle concept that uses a mix of traditional lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors.

NAWA says its carbon-based supercapacitors mean faster charging speeds, better energy regeneration, higher performance, longer range, longer battery life and lighter battery weight.

The electric motorcycle is equipped with a ‘NAWACap’ supercapacitor in the tank position of a conventional motorcycle, and the 9kWh lithium-ion battery poweres the engine. The weight of the entire machine is 150 kg, 100 kg lighter than the Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Wheelless electric motors can produce 100 horsepower, with 100 km acceleration in just 3 seconds and a top speed of more than 160 km/h. The range of the town is 145 km, and the high-speed or township roads are over 290 km. The supercapacitors on board can generate electricity and store electricity by braking and sliding, while Harley-Davidson can run 146kilometers of oil.

NAWA also said that while the electric motorcycle is currently only a concept, its hybrid battery system can be used in any type of electric vehicle and can be put into production quickly.
