Sharing  light electric motorcycle (hereinafter known as electric motorcycle) seems to be a natural evolution of existing shared electric scooters, such as The Lime and Bird programs. Compared to the latter, electric vehicles are larger, faster and easier to find legal parking spaces, generally without causing public distress.

Now a new company called Motobee is entering the U.S. market and appears to be facing increased competition.

Motobee is just the latest in a series of shared electric companies that emerged last year.

Its service has just started in Miami, and Motobee is the second company to offer electric sharing in Miami. Late last year, rival Revel began operations in Miami.

Motobee chose to use an electric motorcycle made by Torrot of Spain. Interestingly, this model is similar to the first-generation electric motorcycle that Revel will launch in New York City in 2018.

Revel eventually chose electric motorcycles made by NIU, China’s leading electric car company, in the Miami market.

Another interesting thing about The Motobee service is that, unlike Revel and other shared electric companys, it currently does not charge rent on a minutely basis.

Instead, Motobee’s service is measured in daily units, with any time from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. available for $29.

Other rental models, such as half-day or 30-minute rentals, will soon emerge, the company said.

Motobee’s electric mopeds are not free to park. Revel’s vehicles can be parked anywhere (including legal parking, on-street parking, etc.), while Motobee has a parking spot called Beehives. There are currently nine parking spots in Miami, where riders can rent and return electric motorcycles at various points.
